#0024 – Request 3rd Party Application Integration

Title:

Microsoft Office 365:  Request 3rd Party App Integration

Available:

On August 29, 2022, a request for 3rd Party App Integration will be available for Information Security Officer or Information Resource Manager to submit via the ServiceNow Portal.
Message:   Microsoft 365 is a powerful productivity platform, and there are many 3rd party apps that can be integrated into the environment.  The 3rd party apps may plug in gaps in the native tools or allow seamless integration between another SaaS service and Microsoft Office 365.

When a 3rd party app is integrated with our Microsoft Office 365 environment, we are in essence consenting and granting permissions to the 3rd party app to connect to users’ data, calendar, email, or more.  With that in mind, it is imperative that we thoroughly examine the business need for the app, what permissions will be granted, and compliance/regulatory concerns, among other factors before we consent to its use.

Additional Information: How to request a 3rd party app to be considered for Microsoft Office 365 integration:

  1. As an ISO or IRM, log in to the ServiceNow Portal.
  2. In the search field, enter Office 365 – 3rd Party Integration.
  3. Click to open the request form.
  4. Complete the form ensuring all required fields are completed.
  5. Select Submit.

The 3rd party app request will be reviewed for technical, risk, and security considerations. The identified requestor will be notified of the next steps.
